The National Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress has warned State Chapters of the party against acts capable of undermining all Election petitions filed by the Party at Elections Petition Tribunals across the Country.

The APC National Secretariat was reacting to the controversy trailing the Petition filed by the Party challenging the Victory of the PDP Candidate in the March 23rd ,2019 Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

In a Press briefing jointly addressed by all the State Executive Members of the Party, the Adamawa State Chairman and Secretary of the All Progressive Congress.Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal and Wafarnyi Theman respectively denied ever meeting to contemplate withdrawing the Petitions filed by the party and neither was any official mandated to withdraw the petition.

According to the Chairman, the State Chapter of the party has no right to withdraw any petition at the Election Tribunal on behalf of the party as any decision on such matters are exclusive responsibility of National Executive Committee of the Party.

He said, the party in the State was intact hence denying the rumoured cracks within the ranks of the party leading to attempted withdrawal of the Petition.

He however submitted that the Party is still investigating the involvement of some few party officials in the controversial attempted withdrawal of the Petition and assured that any Party official discovered to have been involved in the withdrawal saga irrespective of his status will be sanctioned in accordance with the party guidelines.

It could be recalled that the APC was greeted with a controversial motion for withdrawal of her Petition against the PDP allegedly Submitted by two members of the State Executive Committee and a Local Government Party Chairman when the Party arrived the Tribunal in preparation for the pre hearing of the Petition..The stalemate however led to the suspension and subsequent adjournment of the Pre trial hearing by the Chairman of the Election Petition Tribunal, Justice A A Adepara, who directed the APC to go and put her house in order.

The Secretary of the party,Wafarnyi Teman told Journalists that APC is a well structured Party guided by the Constitution which has ensured the Party Supremacy over individuals and maintained that the Petition was a Party decision and not individual decisions, nobody therefore has the right to discontinue the Case without the due party consultations.

He therefore urged all party faithfuls to remain calm and loyal to the party, noting that the APC was ready to prove her Case beyond reasonable doubt to reclaim her Stolen mandate.

According to Teman, the opposition PDP has envisaged an unfavourable outcome of the Petition and therefore infiltrating the APC through unpatriotic and selfish party members to frustrate the petition.

The Media briefing has brought to rest the controversy surrounding the withdrawal of the petition and an alleged cracks and disharmony within the party as the party is more united and resolute in pursuance of the Petition to its logical conclusion....
