Adamawa state records 26 rape cases

Adamawa Coalition Against Rape ACAR has release a staggering list of reported rape cases across the state between August, 2018 and September, 2019. Based on the list majority of the victims are minors whose ages range from 2-14 years.

The figure indicated that in 2018 rape case was reported one in Yola North, while in 2019 twenty five cases was reported in nine local government areas with Mubi North having one, Yola North has 9, Yola South has 5, Lamurde has one, Fufore has 2, Hong has 2, Girei has 3, Numan has one and Toungo has one. The figure might be higher than this considering the population of people in the state.

It could not be said that such incident did not occur in Mubi South, Michika, Madagali, Maiha, Song, Gombi, Ganye, Mayo-Belwa, Demsa, Guyuk, Shelleng, Jada Local Governments but was not reported due to lack of awareness on the part of relations of the victims to open up.

It is against this background that the Coalition has planned to stage a peaceful rally on Wednesday 18th September, 2019 in Jimeta-Yola, the state capital to create awareness on the menace of the criminal act on the society.
