Speaker Adamawa House of Assembly attend Commonwealth parliamentary conference

Members of the Adamawa state House of Assembly led by speaker of the House Aminu Iya Abbas have joined other common wealth parliamentarians at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Uganda attending the 64th common wealth parliamentary conference.

The conference with the theme " Adoption,engagement and evolution of parliaments in a rapidly changing common wealth " brought together over 500 parliamentarians and parliamentary staff as well as other decision makers across common wealth countries to address issues facing parliaments.

It also offers opportunity for members to benefit from professional development,supportive learning and sharing ideas of best practice with colleagues and other international organizations.

President of Uganda Yoweri Museveni who addressed the delegates called on member states to promote trade,investment and enhance security.

Speaker of the parliament of Uganda Rebecca Kadaga in her opening remarks said the conference will deliberate extensively on strategies that will deal with youth unemployment and how to sharpen their skills.

The common wealth parliamentary conference is expected to build capacity of law makers in Adamawa state for effective legislation.
